Mail server installation (wizard)

Step-by-step install of the Postfix/Dovecot/Roundcube stack on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 VM from the uAdmin panel.

  1. Prepare the VM

A fresh Ubuntu 24.04 VM with root SSH access. Open ports 25, 465, 587, 993, 995 and 443. PTR (reverse DNS) for the public IP is recommended for deliverability. Panel and DNS Primary should already be set up if you want automatic DNS for mail domains.

  2. Start the wizard

Mail → Install mail server. Enter IP, hostname (e.g. mail.example.com), SSH access and panel egress IP. The wizard installs packages, generates API keys, configures UFW, issues a TLS certificate (DNS-01) and starts the connector service.

  3. After installation

Verify the health check on Mail → Server overview. In Settings issue or renew the TLS certificate when adding new mail domains. Add the first virtual domain and mailbox.

    Tip

Installation takes a few minutes. MariaDB and Roundcube passwords are stored on the mail VM in /etc/uadmin-mail-connector/env.
